About the Author

My name is Tables Mesa and I’m an author/illustrator from Opa-Locka, Florida; now living in Orlando. I graduated from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in Illustration and an award for Best Portfolio. Afterwards, I worked in art retail until early 2020. Currently, I’m a full-time digital print technician, printing and producing trade show graphics.

Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Pokemon Gold/Silver are really high on my list of childhood influences.

Along with manga, many of the video games I grew up playing were a big influence on me. In particular the SNES, Sega Genesis, and Gameboy Color had a huge impact on me as an artist early on, resulting in the aesthetic choices I make today. As such, my art makes use of delicate linework with bold, colorful palettes. The result is rich, vibrant illustrations that are eye-catching and easily readable. While working, I find a lot of inspiration listening to chiptunes, FM synth, and other retro style game music.
