Sketches & Concept Art

I like to divide my sketches between two separate sketchbooks, depending on the scope of ideas explored within them. For the sake of these galleries, I’m dubbing the large sketchbooks “Sketchbooks Major”; and the smaller sketchbooks “Sketchbooks Minor”.

Sketchbooks Major

Larger sketchbooks offer the advantage of a large surface area to explore an idea in. Depending on the sketch, it’s possible to move into a more finished stage of an illustration with this book traditionally or digitally.

Sketchbooks Minor

Being smaller and more portable, these sketchbooks offer up the advantage exploring ideas on the fly or working in a more focused manner without getting distracted by all the open space of a larger book.

Scrap Pile

Below, you’ll find a collection of sketches and drawings that I made on scraps of various papers and boards that I’ve accumulated over time. Also included in this section are digital drawings and sketches that may or may not still be in a work-in-progress stage. Eventually I’ll organize these scraps into their own scrap galleries.
